NICHOLSON, Clare

Clare Nicholson lives and works in Sydney’s Inner West as a sculptor and educator. She holds a sculpture-led PhD from UNSW Art & Design, and was the recipient of the UNSW Dean’s Award for outstanding PhD. Clare has held several solo shows within Australia and exhibited overseas. Along with presenting at international conferences, Clare has co-authored ‘Sustaining Seas. Oceanic Space and the Politics of Care’, published by Rowman & Littlefield. Clare taught in the sculpture department of UNSW Art & Design, within high schools in rural and remote NSW, and currently teaches from her purpose-built studio in Haberfield. Clare is passionate about challenging herself to learn new skills, working across a range of materials which include ceramics, bronze, wax, concrete, silver-plate, plaster, wood, ballistics gel, pastillage, resin and aluminium.
